I attended the Sirens Conference in Vail, Colorado this past weekend and it was outstanding! The conference was inspired by “daring adventures of women characters” and dedicated to women in fantasy literature. The guests of honor were authors Tamora Pierce, Sherwood Smith, and Kristin Cashore! The size of the conference was perfect, allowing everyone ample opportunity to converse with the authors – even one on one.

Some of the highlights [for me] was sparing with Kristin Cashore, dining with Tamora Pierce, and dancing – at the court ball – with Sherwood Smith! I also got to talk with fellow fantasy book lovers about some of our favorite female (and even male) characters, discuss and learn about strong women throughout history, try on mail, spear through leather shields (try at least), and build lasting friendships!
